The celebration — the bigger list, the venue, and the headcount your caterer actually needs.

What the Walima is for

The Walima is the marriage feast hosted after the Nikah, traditionally by the groom’s family. It’s the event most people mean when they say "the wedding". It’s a Sunnah to hold one, and to invite people generously.

That makes it the larger invitation — colleagues, extended family, the wider community. It’s also the one where the numbers genuinely matter, because someone is being paid per head.

Its own date, venue and list

The Walima is often a different day to the Nikah, in a different place, with a much longer guest list. Here it keeps all three of its own. So inviting two hundred people to the Walima and twenty to the Nikah is one invitation each — not some awkward workaround.

The number the venue asks for

Venues and caterers don’t ask "how many people?" They ask for adults, children between five and fifteen, and under-fives — because that’s how the pricing works. Every reply is split that way automatically, per side, and exports straight to a CSV.

You can also see live headcounts as replies come in, and chase whoever hasn’t responded without trawling back through a group chat.

Questions

Common questions

Can the Walima be on a different date to the Nikah?

Yes — that is the default. Each event carries its own date, venue and guest list.

Do I get a headcount I can give the caterer?

Yes. Replies split into adults, ages 5 to 15 and under-5s, per event and per side, and export as a CSV.

Can both families manage it?

Yes. You can add family to help, hand out tasks with deadlines, and keep budgets split by side — but nothing goes ahead without the bride’s or groom’s sign-off.
